Founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus was a new type of art school that combined life, craft and art under one roof. The Bauhaus was arguably the single most influential modernist art school of the 20th century. Its approach to teaching, and to the relationship between art, society, and technology, and has had a major impact in the world long after its closure.
